For those who already joined, and those just arriving or checking the
archives and wondering where all the discussion is, I've been holding
off asking a half dozen questions and proposing various ideas until more
people arrive. With 112 twitter followers for
https://twitter.com/BBPyProject I assume there are more than the current
7 others who've joined here who would participate.
For a brief background, check
http://peterhansen.ca/blog/blackberry-tart-preview.html if you haven't
already. I whipped that up in a couple of days before San Jose, and
have been working with it since along with very minor additions. I'm
actually surprised how effective it's been even in that state, to the
point that I'm unsure whether there's any significant limitation to this
approach, at least for my own style of programming.
I have three apps now in working states (but quite unfinished) built on
top of this. The basic approach is to have a thin C++ layer which
serves almost entirely to pump JSON-encoded messages between the Python
and the QML sides.
In other news, progress is apparently being made at getting the diffs
for the QNX port of Python 3.2 out to the world at large, possibly via
"us" in some fashion. I'll hold off volunteering any more about that
just yet primarily because I know little... but if you have questions
about it, feel free to pipe up here since that gets into another rich
area for discussion.
I'm hoping this list will prove more effective than Twitter or Disqus
comments on my blog posts, in terms of providing a forum for discussion
of the project and of the future of Python on BB10.
More to come...
